CHAMP CLARK BRIDGE

Champ Clark Bridge 
US Route 54 over the Mississippi River

CDI is providing significant Phase II & III engineering services to HNTB for structural design and review services. The bridge is an 8-span, 2-unit structure, with a 5-span river unit consisting of 12’ steel plate web depths and spans as large as 420’ long. The approach span consists of a 3-span, 78” NU-girder bridge on steel pipe pile bents. CDI worked alongside HNTB personnel inside their offices.

CITY OF EFFINGHAM, POLICE STATION
STRUCTURES
Civil Design, Inc. prepared all site civil engineering and structural engineering contract bid documents. These included both engineering drawings and specifications. Plan drawings consisted of a demolition and site/utility/grading plan that detailed the location of the new building and a sally port, two new and redesigning the parking lot. Utility design included a new sanitary sewer building lateral, new building water services, and minor site storm sewer and inlet reconfigurations and a new water line.

The building consists of a steel frame structure with reinforced masonry shear walls and a concrete basement. Floor slabs are made of composite metal decking and hollow core planks with concrete topping.

NEW WAREHOUSE: MARSHALL, ILLINOIS
STRUCTURES
New Warehouse: Marshall, Illinois

CDI provided surveying and engineering services consisting of utility relocation, pavement design, storm water drainage, and site grading for a street extension and additional parking. CDI also provided the structural engineering for the addition of a new 63,500 square foot warehouse building with multiple truck loading docks. The building consisted of steel framing, reinforced concrete foundations, and light-gauge steel framing.

T.R. 263 OVER MUDDY CREEK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT*
STRUCTURES
This project replaced an existing deteriorated bridge with an improvement structure that meets current design standards. Work on the project consisted of a hydraulic study to determine that the new bridge would not cause a significant rise in Muddy Creek water elevations. The new bridge is 60’ long and 27’ wise and utilizes precast pre-stressed concrete deck beams supported by reinforced concrete abutments with steel H-piles.

US 34 OVER I-29 BRIDGE REPLACEMENT*
STRUCTURES
This project replaced existing grade-crossing interchange bridges with improved dual structures that meet current design standards. The new bridges are a 2-span, 347’-0” long (97.5’ – 152’ – 97.5’) 50’-0” wide tapering structure with a reinforced concrete deck on 63” deep precast prestressed reinforced concrete girders supported by reinforced concrete integral abutments on steel H-piles and reinforced concrete solid-wall piers on footings with steel H-piles.
